Barak bara Elohiym are the first three words of the Bible. They mean literally “beginning created God.” Beginning is an appropriate word for the start of the Bible. The Bible is full of beginnings, both good and bad: beginning of mankind, beginning of civilization, the family, sin and second chances.
Everyone wants a second chance—a new beginning. Life is full of mistakes, disappointments, and sin. All want the hope that everything will be forgotten or better, forgiven.
After having an affair with Bathsheba, killing her husband, and watching their child die, David cried out for a new beginning – a second chance. In Psalm 51: 10, David writes, “Create in me a new heart, O God.” David desperately wanted a new beginning. He cried out to God for everything to be forgiven and forgotten. God answered.
Want a new beginning – cry out to God. He will answer.
In the beginning God created….
