Flying Boots

I remember the old story of a young soldier boy who was a Christian. After the lights were out in the barracks he would slip down on his knees by his bunk in order to pray. One night the sergeant, who had little use for anything religious or Christian, threw his very muddy boots at the boy, striking him on the side of the head. The next morning the sergeant found his boots beside his bed all clean and polished to perfection.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”  When Jesus uttered these simply words, he was thinking of peace between men.  A peacemaker is not a peace lover.  A peacemaker is a person who actively seeks the betterment of another human being.  All efforts are used to bring about what is best for the other.
Jesus demonstrated that fact at the cross.  He took our pain and punishment to bring about a right relationship between God and man.  That is a peacemaker.
When you walk in a room, are you known for being a peacemaker or a boot thrower?  Bring peace.
